On Monday, October 16, 2017 work will begin to install a replacement culvert beneath CR 616 (MacFarlane Road) east of the Plowman Road intersection where Hatlem Creek passes beneath the road. This work is being completed by Elmer’s Crane and Dozer, who was the Contractor submitting the most cost effective proposal to complete the work. Work is expected to be completed in approximately four weeks.
Given the nature of the work, it will be necessary for CR 616 (MacFarlane Road) to be closed to through vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the duration of the project. Motorists and pedestrians alike will not be allowed to pass through this area during this time. The stretch of CR 616 (MacFarlane Road) to be closed to through traffic is located between Plowman Road and Bow Road located approximately one mile to the east. Access to all homes along this stretch will be maintained from one end or the other during the duration of the project at all times.
A detour will be established and signed around the area as follows:
If traveling on CR 616 (MacFarlane Road) from west to east, turn south onto Plowman Road and continue to M-72 located 2.5 miles to the south. Turn east onto M-72 and continue to Gilbert Road located 1 mile to the east. Turn north onto Gilbert Road and travel for 1 mile to Baatz Road located 1 mile to the north. Turn east onto Baatz road and travel ¾ of a mile to the east to Fritz Road. Turn north onto Fritz Road and travel in a northwesterly direction to Burdickville Road approximately 2 miles to the north. This intersection is located 0.5 miles east of the Bow Road and CR 616 (MacFarlane Road) intersection. Reverse the course if traveling from east to west.
