Mr. DuPont, i am an owner on Little Glen (Day Forest) and run a real estate development company in suburban Chicago. Both my wife, Kelly and I grew up in Saginaw. I just recently heard about the proposed expansion of the Narrows Marina. The proposed expansion is obviusly not just to satisfy demand, it is to substantially increase profits. It is no surprise to anyone there are many that would like a slip on Glen Lake. One of the many reasons we (and others) were attracted to Glen lake and purchased homes is because of the limited access and the fact it is not a busy lake. The expansion of this marina, with the lack of parking as it is, is a horrible idea. I read about some shuttle service being part of the petitioner's proposal. We all know that this will not reduce traffic...the slip owner will drop off his family, coolers, etc, then turn around and cross the bridge to park. When they leave, he will go get the car and drive it back to the marina to pick up his family and gear. There is a reason the marina is small and there are few slips....there is no parking and it is located at the lake's busiest point. He should have factored this in when he bought it...I do when i purchase someting for development. Finally, any notion that this will reduce the number of users of the boat launch is ridiculous. if he is claiming that, then perhaps parking on Day Forest should be strctly prohibited, and part of his proposal. Thanks for all that you do for the Association and Glen Lake.

I live on the south side of Big Glen near the bridge and feel strongly that this represents a significant detriment to the beauty and safety of the lake. It already is an issue with so many boats parking near the bridge and staying all day, with refuse going into the lake and obstructing traffic out of the area. This will be an eyesore and further congest an already congested area. You can tell them that this will be the last time we use their marina for anything if this goes through.

I have property across the bridge and would not enjoy the view of 48 boat slips. There is already a problem of boats docking close to our beach and we often have difficulty getting out of our dock to go out into the lake. What would more boats do? I would be stranded on my beach. I pay taxes and the people using the boat slips do not! This is a bad idea and you can't go back after the change is made. Please consider this decision and how it affects the families who have owned property for 25 plus years.

Wow..we just head about this expansion from a friends email. We own the property directly across the street from the marina. Our address is 8088 Glen Lake Rd. We are very concerned about this expansion. We have problems with cars and cars with boat trailers blocking our driveway now. We have often run out to catch the driver and ask them to move their car but when we miss them it takes one of us to stand out in the street and check for traffic because our sight and turning radius is so limited. If the marina expands I can't imagine where the cars are going to park. There is too much congestion now for the walkers, bikers, and runners going around the cars parked on the side of the road. Please think about the rights of the residential owners at the narrows too.
