Annual Meeting

Glen Lake Association Annual Meeting
Saturday August 13, 2011, 10:30 a.m.
Leelanau School Dining Room

It’s a Celebration!

This year’s meeting has a new time, a new format, and a new location.  We are shortening the formal meeting and presentations to one hour. Following the business portion of the meeting we will be celebrating the state and national awards that the Association received with a light lunch and social hour.

This is our way of saying, “thank you”, to our volunteers and members that made this a reality.

If you are unable to attend the Annual Meeting, please be sure to mail your proxy postcard no later than July 31st. If you did not receive a proxy card in the mail, it is most likely because we do not show you as a 2011 riparian member. Dues must be paid no later than July 24th to be eligible to vote.  You can renew your membership or join as a new member by clicking the Donate feature on the Home Page. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Hope to see you in August!

The GLA 2010 Annual Meeting was held at the Leelanau School on August 14, 2010. Highlights of the meeting included a comprehensive Hydrology Study, Shoreline Survey Results and Stewardship Awards awarded to Karen Richards, Glen Lake School Envirothons; Jodi Marqui from Mamma Bear Restorations;  Jack Otto; and Brendan Burrows and Ann Derrick.

The Nominating Committee reported that four of the current Board Members have accepted a nomination for a second term.  They are Andy DuPont, Carl Oleson, Shirley Hoagland and Matt Wiesen. Nominations approved.

John Rockwood thanked the members, community and visitors for their support which is crucial to the future of the Glen Lake/Crystal River Watershed.  Providing long term financial stability to the GLA is needed to preserve this fragile natural resource for generations to come.

Incoming President,  Andy DuPont, thanked John for his two years of leadership and told the audience that John would continue to chair the Long – Range Planning Committee.  John was given a gift certificate from the Board in appreciation of his service to the GLA.

Other items of interest discussed related to the status of the Fisher/Glen Lake channel dredging and current low water levels, resulting primarily from the significant drought we are experiencing. Proposals to the Technical Committee will hopefully improve water levels going forward. At the 2003 meeting, there was much interest in the Aquatic Plant Survey (pictured here), conducted by the Water Quality Committee.
