Bring your kids or grandkids and tell your neighbors to bring their young ones too. Please help us spread the word about the importance of our Association.

It’s all about the water – protecting it for the next generation!

Oh, and look for our table. You can buy a hat or key fob to show your support!

A section of dock washed up on the shore of Tamarack Cove this morning.  If this is your property or you know of a neighbor who is missing part of their dock, please leave a comment below.

Watershed Center Announces Photography Contest

Facebook is great for showing off your photos, but hey, let’s really show off your talent!  Your beautiful Up North photos can be featured in an Art of the Watershed exhibit and in a 2012 Watershed Center calendar!

Photos can be of any season and should capture the outdoors.  For example, subjects can include landscapes, water scenes or wildlife.

Photos taken within the Grand Traverse Bay watershed are preferred.  However, photos taken in any part of Leelanau, Grand Traverse, Antrim, Kalkaska or Benzie counties will be accepted.  The location of a photo will not increase or decrease its chances of winning.

Each photographer can submit up to five photos.  The entry fee is $10 and covers all five photos.  Entry fees can be paid online.  The submission deadline is October 21, 2011.

June 17 Workshop~How to Protect Your Up North Shoreline Are you a waterfront property owner who loves clean water? Learn how to protect your Up North shoreline and your property values! Join us on Friday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road in Traverse City. The workshop is $15 and includes lunch. Learn the how to protect water quality, develop a site plan, and create a personal action plan for your property. Learn how to reduce the impacts of runoff, sediment, erosion and invasive species in your lake or stream~and the benefits to your property of doing so. Space is limited, and registration is required. Ready, Set, Go…..3rd Annual M-22 Challenge Saturday

The third annual M-22 Challenge returns to the area this Saturday morning. This year’s competitors will leave from the picnic area on M-109, run 2.5 miles up the Dune Climb, bike 17 miles around the Glen Lakes, and paddle 2.5 miles in Little Glen Lake. Due to rising demand, founders Matt and Keegan Myers opened up this M-22 Challenge to a whopping 550 athletes. You can watch videos from last year’s event on the website at glenarborsun.com.
