GLA Takes Proactive Measures for M-22 Challenge

Little Glen Lake will be  the finishing point for the third leg of the M-22 Challenge that starts at 9am this Saturday, June 20. Approximately 200 athletes will endure a two-mile run over the dunes, followed by a 17-mile bike ride — up M-109, through Glen Arbor, around the east side of Big Glen Lake, over Inspiration Point and back down M-22 toward Empire — and finally a mile of paddling the shallow end of Little Glen Lake. The leaders are expected to finish the race in two hours. Read more from the Glen Arbor Sun here

GLA will staff the boat washing site at the Day Forest boat launch until 9pm on Friday before the event and increase staff the following morning to accommodate an increased need for spraying all water vessels participating in the event.

A tip of our hat to Denny Becker, Chair of our Zebra Mussel/Invasive Species Control Program, his committee members and our staff for helping protect our lakes by ramping up this boat washing service and for the distribution of  educational materials at the site.
