Glen Lake Association Unveils New Website

The Glen Lake Association (GLA) has a new website, http://www.glenlakeassociation.org. The website redesign focuses on usability and making the site more interactive and reflective of the beauty of the area. The new website comes on the heels of the recent award naming the Glen Lake Association the best lake association in the state by the Michigan Lake and Stream Associations.

Lake Levels, Water Quality Top Discussion at GLA Meeting

Association Listens to Concerns/Receives Praise for Protection Efforts

Glen Arbor, Mich. –  Shifting lake levels, invasive species and E coli contamination dominated discussion at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Glen Lake Association (GLA).

This was also the first year the association has recognized homeowners and local units of government for their stewardship of the Glen Lake/Crystal River Watershed.

G-L group confronts E. coli issue

High levels of E. coli were detected near the mouth of Hatlem Creek in Glen Lake, closing that portion of the lake to users earlier this month.

The Glen Lake Association (GLA) alerted 10 property owners on either side of the creek entrance that they should limit “swimming” and “wading” in the area where unusually high levels of the bacteria were measured after a “rain event.”

Glen Lake Association named “Best in Michigan”

The Michigan Lake and Stream Association has awarded the Glen Lake Association its top honor for 2008. The Leelanau County nonprofit organization is the recipient of the “Michigan Inland Lake Steward of the Year Award.”

The designation recognizes the Glen Lake Association (GLA) as the benchmark for other lake protection groups around the state for their exemplary operations, programs and outreach.
